MICIS: Opioid Education

In 2017 and 2018 MICIS focused our educational outreach exclusively on opioid education required by Maine Law, Chapter 488 and by the rules of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services and various prescriber licensing boards.

MICIS presentations may include a combination of didactics, video, individual exercises and small group discussions.  Presentation topics included an update on Maine opioid prescribing laws and rules as well as clinical content with a compassionate, patient-centered perspective.

2018 Topics: Next Steps in Addressing Maine’s Opioid Crisis

In 2018 MICIS presented two new clinical modules and an updated presentation on Maine opioid prescribing laws and rules.  Topics were presented individually at 1-hour programs and were combined for 3-hour programs.

Opioid Use Disorder & Medication Assisted Recovery: Caring for Our Communities

Recent Legal Changes Affecting Opioid Prescribing in Maine

  • Learn about recent changes in Maine statutes relating to opioid prescribing and safety and Substance Use Disorder recovery
  • Learn about recent changes in rules from licensing boards relating to opioid prescribing and safety and Substance Use Disorder recovery
  • Learn about recent changes in rules from Maine Department of Health and Human Services relating to opioid prescribing and safety and Substance Use Disorder recovery

 

In 2018 MICIS also scheduled seven 3-hour presentations of Improving Opioid Prescribing and Patient Safety, an updated version of the broad, clinical and legal review of opioid prescribing in Maine first presented by MICIS in 2017.
